Gorgeous Session with Sarah
"It was a great experience"
Sarah wanted a session so she could give her husband to be a very special gift on her wedding day. Sarah was so much fun to work with and she brought a long her "something blue" as part of her shoot which looked amazing in her album. Here is what Sarah had to say about her session.
How old are you?
36
What do you do for a living?
Public Servant
What made you decide to do a boudoir session?
I was looking for someone who would do wedding makeup – I didn’t actually know about the boudoir side of things until I found out more about Kerry. I thought I would use the opportunity to trial my wedding makeup. It looked like a lot of fun and I thought it would make a great wedding present for my fiance'.
What was your perception about Boudoir before your session?
I didn’t really have any pre-conceived ideas. When I saw Kerry’s photos though I thought they were gorgeous.
Did you have fears about committing to a boudoir session?
I was a bit nervous about having photos taken in my underwear, but it was a good incentive to get to the gym beforehand!
Was the session what you expected it to be or was it more?
I really didn’t know what to expect, but it was a great experience. It’s nice to be able to take time out for yourself, and the photos are a lovely keepsake.
What was your favourite part about your boudoir experience?
Having the photos taken was a lot of fun. I normally hate being in front of the camera, but Kerry made the session feel really relaxed and was great at providing guidance. It was also fun to try on different outfits for different looks.
What was your reaction to your makeup and hair?
I thought the makeup was beautiful and the hair was lovely and natural, which is just what I wanted.
Where did you go to source your boudoir outfits?
I bought a corset online, and the rest of the items were from Bras and Things.
How did you feel when you saw your photographs?
I think I may have actually cried – they were so beautiful. I wanted to show everyone, but couldn’t because they were for my fiancés eyes only!
What advice would you have for other women interested in their own boudoir session?
Just go for it. Kerry will make you look and feel great. Finding some ideas on Pinterest (lingerie, makeup, poses, photo compositions etc.) beforehand will also help you to get the look you want.
Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty and confidence as a result of the session?
I never really thought that boudoir would be empowering, but it actually was. Even if there are aspects of your body that you’re not entirely happy with, Kerry can work with them to make you feel comfortable and confident.
How did you like working with Kerry Sleeman, her team and other Collaboratives before and on the day of your photo shoot?
Working with Kerry was great. I think I’d feel a bit weird having others there though.
Would you do it again and if so would you change anything?
I would love to do it again!!! I’d love to do a ‘pin up’ style shoot, or glamour shoot. Or even try the more dark and moody style of boudoir.
Would you recommend others?
Absolutely – I already have!
Did you consider a Stylist Package by Sueno Designs?
Not for the boudoir session, but I did get Joanne to do the styling for my wedding reception.
What was your experience with Sueno Designs?
Joanne was wonderful.
What was the intention of the session? And what was the reaction?
Gift for my fiancé on our wedding day. He freakin’ loved it!
Testimonial
I absolutely loved the boudoir experience. Despite being a bit nervous beforehand, Kerry really made me feel confident and relaxed about the shoot. The hair and makeup were gorgeous and the final prints absolutely stunning – my husband couldn’t wipe the smile off his face! I couldn’t ask for more and would love to do this again.
Thank you Sarah!
