Shabby Chic Boudoir Session
Styled Boudoir Session with Adria Mae. The theme for this session was keeping it light and dreamy, creams, golds. delicate pink and slightly shabby chic vintage. We wanted it to be girly and elegant using outfits in cream satin slips and white lace and chose Vintage accessories of pears and gold tones. Styling by Joanne Pribanovic of Sueno Designs put together the displays and provided a number of styling items from her collection. I also have an extensive range and can reproduce this look for anyone. The bedhead was donated to me by a member of this group and painted by Alison Gregory of The Little French Provincial Shop. I also did Adria's makeup and hair! We went for a natural look smokey eye to bring out her natural features and added some gorgeous false lashes to make her eyes pop!! Gorgeous! With this shoot we wanted to add extra elements for interest and involved Camille from Pip & Lou The Canberra Dessert and Amity's Edible Ideas These lovely ladies provided the most amazing desserts to create interest and matched our theme and styling perfectly. Take a look at their pages to see their amazing work!
Here is what Adria Mae had to say about her boudoir session. Adria was a great model and fantastic to work with and and she had a whole lot of fun! Was a great day!
How old are you? 23
What do you do for a living? Dental Assistant
What made you decide to do a boudoir session? Kerry asked me if I would like to be apart of one of her shoots.
What was your perception about Boudoir before your session?
I had to google what it was because I really had no idea or perception other than it being a fancy French word hehe.
Did you have fears about committing to a boudoir session?
No fears – just didn’t want to disappoint anyone as I had had a few scary experiences in the past with photographers expecting too much from me in terms of modelling.
Was the session what you expected it to be or was it more?
It was much much more, a lot more relaxed, comfortable and fun than I had expected.
What was your favourite part about your boudoir experience?
My favourite part was having fun with the props and laughing about pretending what I was doing with them, just having fun really - also loved having my makeup done by Kerry, so soft and beautiful it made me feel amazing.
Where did you go to source your boudoir outfits?
I borrowed a few things from friends but ended up not needing to, Kerry literally had heaps for what was needed plus more so ended up using what she had sourced from various places.
How did you feel when you saw your photographs?
I was so surprised, I don’t normally enjoy photos of myself but they turned out so lovely, I was really happy with the overall look and setting and the way Kerry managed to capture my personality in the images as well.
What advice would you have for other women interested in their own boudoir session? The biggest tip would be to relax and have fun with your session, let your own style develop as you go along, from looking at my images I realise the ones that turned out the best were when I was being myself and having fun rather than the ones where I was perhaps concentrating too much or trying too hard/over thinking.
Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty and confidence as a result of the session? Definitely! I wouldn’t normally classify myself as a really feminine or ‘girly’ type of girl, I am usually one to regard myself as much the opposite. My session with Kerry showed me I can be very elegant and lady like in my hair and makeup and I do feel much more confident about my body etc as well after seeing it in a different light in Kerry and Joanne's beautiful boudoir setting.
How did you like working with Kerry Sleeman, her team and other collaboratives before and on the day of your photo shoot? I found it very easy to organise the session with Kerry, there was always reassurance and feedback given straight away if I had questions or ideas, I am pretty hopeless in organising things myself but this I found was very easy, always was kept in the loop with the styling/brainstorming for the day as well. The shoot itself was nothing but fun to be apart of, working with Joanne and Kerry on the day was no work at all, I just got to relax and be pretty as they had everything ready to go and did all the hard stuff!
Would you do it again and if so would you have changed anything? I would absolutely do it again, already excited for another session and new ideas that Kerry and Joanne can come up with. The only thing I would have changed would be having more cake to eat hehe !
